Last weekend i raced the Great Buckeye Half Ironman and while i did not have the race i was looking for due to lack of rest and starting to get sick, i had a solid showing that was good enough for 9th overall, which to date is my best long course race result. I PR'd on the run, and had a solid bike considering the course.
I got to south bend on tues afternoon, and had dinner with the head coach, Kurt Butler, and the team pres and team captain. All pretty cool people and should be a lot of fun to work with.
Wed the team had their first 4k test of the year, brutal way to start off training again but good to see who put in the summer work and who was slacking off.
On a side note i raced the Notre dame biathlon this morning. It was a 1000m open water swim and then a 2 mile off road run. race was run by the swim team and split up into varsity swimmers and non-varsity for the divisions. I won the non-swimmer one, and had the fastest run split of the day.

Go Irish!!!!!!!
I'm excited to announce that in two weeks I will be moving to South Bend Indiana (well not excited about this part) to work for a year as the Freshman rowing coach for the mens crew team. This should prove to be an amazing experience and a great time, and I cannot wait to start coaching in a few weeks.
On the training front, everything is lookin' good, legs feel great, and the running is coming around. I had a PR on hte run in granville even with backing off the last mile, and was right back into running the next day.
The bike is further ahead than I could have ever imagined, and the swim is looking solid. We'll see how this fitness carries through Toyota Challenge in late sept.
For those following my atheltes, all are looking good at this point. The ones with races still to come this year are moving ahead and laying down some solid weeks, the ones that are done for the year are prepping for the fall and winter training seasons.
On a lighter note, found this video today, should make you smile;-)
